About The Boulder Writers’ Workshop
Thank you for your interest in the Boulder Writers’ Workshop. My name is Lori DeBoer and I founded this private literary center in 2008 as part of my professional coaching practice, and am gratified that we have grown to more than 800 writers and publishing professionals in Boulder and throughout Colorado. We serve writers of all genres and abilities with high-quality, structured networking, marketing and learning opportunities. The Boulder Writers’ Workshop was named a Colorado literary hot spot by Poets & Writers’ Magazine. It also was featured in The Daily Camera and CBS Denver.
Writers and authors in Colorado are privileged to have access to so many excellent writing organizations, including the Lighthouse Writers’ Workshop, Pike’s Peak Writers, the Colorado Author’s League, Boulder Media Women, The Boulder Writers’ Alliance, Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and more. The Boulder Writers’ Workshop joins these great institutions, carving out a spot for ourselves through our dedication for showcasing our professional member’ books, publications and accomplishments, putting our members in the spotlight as much as possible. Because the Boulder Writers’ Workshop is my independent entrepreneurial endeavor, our focus is also not on raising money or writing grants, but on providing excellent programming and platform-building opportunities for writers and authors wanting to produce great work and reach readers.
Finally, we take great pride in our diverse membership and our ability to provide an umbrella organization for writers of different genres and experience levels to join in a genuine spirit of community. We are continually evolving in our goal of creating a sense of community among Colorado writers, authors and others in our industry. To accomplish that mission, we are in the process of launching and growing two publications, The Writing Colorado Newsletter, Colorado’s only comprehensive writing and publishing industry news source, and The Flatirons Literary Review, a purveyor of locally grown prose.
In July of 2013, we will be celebrating our five-year anniversary as a private literary center and writing school. If you look at our lists of instructors, staff and volunteers, you’ll see that many established and up-and-coming Colorado writers have come on board to help us accomplish the Boulder Writers’ Workshop mission. There’s room for more; I hope you’ll join us.
