A good story draws readers in by making them become emotionally involved with the characters. Learn to be an astute writer by getting an emotional read on your characters, including their backstories, desires, fears and motivations. We'll discuss how feelings and response are an integral part of a successful scene and how a writer's own emotions figure into writing.

The workshop will be led by author and Writing Coach Lori DeBoer, who has an MFA in creative writing. She has helped hundreds of clients and students achieve their writing and publication goals.  Her clients have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, been a finalist for the Flannery O’ Connor Award for Short Fiction, won a Tin House Literary Award and won or placed in both the Zebulon Awards and the Colorado Gold Awards.   They have been published by Yotzeret Publishing, Melange, Greenleaf and Candlewick Press. See LoriDeBoer.net, for more details.

The event will be held on Sunday, March 29th, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Please note: You must preregister for this event at Boulder Writers' Workshop Registration.
